This part of the former French Concession once had a flair of Paris in the East. Plane trees, mansions and noble apartment buildings made this area famous for its wealth. The area around Fuxing Park is gorgeous with theatres, cinemas, cafés and bistros. The “Canidrome” was the most famous place – a dog race course where greyhounds kept running and people bet on them. A stroll in this part of the city reveals colonial times’ beauty and leisurely atmosphere.
